Not too pious, but not too evil. He just does the right thing.

Toquemada Coteaz is a famous, feared and respected Ordo Malleus Inquisitor. He is also the "High Protector of the Formosa Sector". He achieved this through this actions and proving that the previous High Protector was using ruinous powers. He uses an extensive network of informants and underlings to get his work done. Nobody knows who is working for Coteaz in the Formosa Sector and it is this and a bit paranoia that keeps the local system in line. Of the three Inquisitors in this codex he is the most normal. He is sort of the Goldilocks of the three. He isn’t overly puritanical and is nowhere near radical. He is just right, by Inquisitorial standards.

"....so Bill's a vole."

Now Coteaz has a standard non-marine stat line with a few tweaks; WS 4, BS 4, strength toughness, wounds, and attacks of 3, initiative 4, leadership 10 and a 2+ save. He has a psy level 2 with the Hammerhand, Sanctuary and Dark Exorcism powers. He is armed with a bolt pistol, master crafted demon hammer, frag, krak and psyk-out grenades, artificer armor and a Psyber Eagle. He is an Independent Character with the Stubborn, Spy Network, Lord of Formosa and “I’ve been expecting you.” rules. He is also dirt cheap for a names HQ at only a cool Benjamin in points.

Psyber Eagle- is a “pet” given to Coteaz by the Mechanicum. It is a 24”, S 4, AP – assault D6 ranged weapon.

Spy Network- allows you to re-roll the dice to seize the initiative or, even better, forces your opponent to re-roll their seize roll. How awesome is that?

Lord of Formosa- opens up the limitation on Henchmen Warbands. These now become troops when Coteaz is in the army. A stated above….How awesome is that?

“I’ve been expecting you.”- allows any unit Coteaz is in to make an out of sequence shooting attack against reserves. If a unit comes in from reserve within 12” of Coteaz, then his squad can immediately shoot at it. This can happen multiple times per game or even per turn.

I love this guy! First he is super cheap. Then there is the ability to take up to six Henchmen units. Once again, how awesome is that. He is a cheap HQ and can unlock cheap and/or awesome troops. Thirdly how fun would it be to make your opponent re-roll that 6 he just threw to seize the initiative? It would be very fun! Then there is the chance to shoot at the enemy if they enter the game too close to Coteaz. Sure it might not happen a ton, but if he is in the right kind of squad (a lot of cool shooting stuff) then it could be very bad for them. Finally, is the Sanctuary power that can make terrain difficult and dangerous within 12" of him. A nice little hindrance. Especially if people deep strike in near him, get shot and then have to deal with terrain checks after that.

Now the down side is that Coteaz is soft and squishy like all 40K humans. He is also throwing a demon hammer at initiative 1. Oh yeah, I forgot, he has no invulnerable save either. This is a guy you want outside of combat, unless it is some demon or psyker that his grenades will hamper. A 2+ save is also great, but it won’t stop and has no potential to stop weapons of AP 2, power or monstrous.

Even still love this guy and what he can bring to the army!
