Apeticon 2016- I'm there or here

Picture

I will be hanging out Thursday and Friday.
Signed up to demo the Star Wars RPG and for the Iron Arena.
Not sure how many quick low point games I'll try but it was only a couple of bucks.

Looking to get lots of pics of models and such.
Might even buy a few bits and bobbles as well.

The Iron Lich's personal light warjack is done.

Cankerworm. Oh what a glorious name for a model!

Batman vs.Superman Dawn of Justice review- it is rough

Alright Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice. I saw it. I expected a total train wreck. It wasn’t that, but it was a dumpster fire.

This is pretty much the sequel to Man of Steel with a lot of DC universe tacked onto it. Metropolis is ruined after Superman fights Zod. Bruce Wayne loses a building and people die. This gives him a mean-on for Superman. He is looking to knock him down a peg. Now throw in a pointless story for Lois Lane to chase. Then add Lex Luthor’s plans to make weapons from Kryptonite, a clone monster, domestic terrorism and Superman bashing. A glimpse into what the future Justice League will look like. Add a mix of dream sequences.  Next a run time that is at least a half hour too long. Then an endless final act action sequence that goes from damn descent to just end it already! This gives you the gist of what Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice is about.

This is not a good movie. It is what Zach Snyder wanted to make with a comic book movie. Is this his ideal Batman/Superman tale? If it is, then it is a comic book I would have never wanted to read.

Alright here I go.......

More sometime out Privateer stuff.

I have no want to ever play Cygnar.
However, if I did I would easily take this guy or two of them!

Then this guy who is a flying not gargoyle-gargoyle for Legion.

Frak those dragon spawn jerks and their anthanc!

Daredevil Season 2

I was surprised at how fun I found the first season of Daredevil on Netflix.

Matt, Foggy and Karen are back and this time they have a whole new list of problems.

It is a different feel from the first season.

Season 2 popped up last Friday and I have slowly been chewing through it. It took about eight episodes before I started to really enjoy it.

This year added the Punisher and Electra to the series and I am a bit underwhelmed with them for the first half of the season.

As above so below or.....

 ....the Submarine Bonejack

Cobbled together a Helldiver yesterday.

This is his little burrow marker that you throw down after he buries himself.
How adorable is that?

The Witcher III

I have never played any of The Witcher games, but after talking with two people I dove right into the third installment. After Fallout 4 I needed to get some high fantasy going to wash away the wasteland post apocalypse.

Now all I know going in is that you play a witcher, named Geralt, who is  a monster hunter that has magic, sword, cat and dog abilities. That was all I cared to know about. The events of the previous two games and the world I am immersed in I wasn’t concerned about. I just want to hunt monsters and look awesome doing it while in a crazy open world.

Boy oh boy did I get that!

I’m 18 levels into this game and all I know is that I am looking for my not daughter Ciri and am trying to stop the Wild Hunt ( a kick-ass version of Ring Wraiths) from snacthing her and/or destroying the world. Thanks to her special Elder Blood that allows her to warp time or some such. I am not overly concerned about that really.

Why?

Weekly schlock and snakes! Why'd it have to be snakes?

I never really wanted to see Lair of the White Worm. I knew of its existence. I remember the silly DVD cover art.  It was always with the horror movies, but I never bothered with it. However for some stupid reason it was on and being bored I watched it.

Boy do I wish I had found something better to do.

Alright away I go to the British Isles!

Scottish archaeologist Angus Flint (also the 12thDoctor Who) is doing some digging in the front yard of some house. He uncovers a giant reptilian skull.  Wow what a find!  Meanwhile, rich and fancy Lady Sylvia Marsh returns to her nearby mansion for some unknown reason. Now we jump to a party being thrown by Lord John D’Ampton. It is here that the legend of the D’Ampton Wurm is explained. A tale of some D’Ampton dude slaying a giant snake monster back in the day. It leads to a yearly party and such. Well how about that Angus Flint (12th Doctor) may have just discovered the remains and proof of this snake dragon monster!

New Privateer stuff to be out sometime.

I have been holding off getting Rok for sometime now.
Mostly due to the fact  I don't want to have to deal with him on the tabletop.
The other reason is that I'm not super excited about his model.

Now it looks like he is getting a reboot and doesn't look awful.
He sure looks a lot taller and more imposing than previous.

Hmmm.... are they slowly making new models for the previous named warbeast combo kits?
Is Ghetorix getting a re-do as well?

New Flameguard solo guy.
A very action action action pose compared to the regular fire spear men.

Mobius again!
Can't wait to get this dude!

"Egg head likes his booky-wook."

I have pushed through several books lately but none that were super stellar that I felt like elaborating beyond a quick blurb.

Meg- A shark novel where the shark is a long thought extinct Megaladon. If Jaws had never been made then this would have been a lot more awesome! It is not an un-fun read, just not stellar in any one category.

Jurassic Park- While I love the movie I found the book just alright. The book is very different from the film and that made for a much different experience on Isla Nublar. Strangely enough, I really enjoyed the movie more than the book.

Mobius?

Where the hell did this guy come from?

I have been on the fence with getting a Bloat Thrall for grins.

Then this guy pops up on the interweb.
Must have been in the Privateer magazine?

Master Blaster in thrall form.

Yes!

Don't care if the rules for him suck. Don't care about his point cost.

He will be in my army because he is stupid fun!

Every party needs a smoke machine

Swamp Gobber Bellows Crew finished.

These little guys are dirt cheap and give me some mobile terrain via a 5" cloud of smoke/fog.

Well Deathwatch finally get models but...

....they are not super awesome.
Deathwatch Overkill

Games Workshop is throwing out a new game full of models hat have no tabletop use sans counts as.
Overkill is their new board game that gives players the Genstealer Cult and Deathwatch Kill Team that they wanted, but cannot use in there existing armies.

Way back when there were rules for Deathwatch kill teams. They were overpriced Space Marines with some special gear and abilities. A White Dwarf article made them legit. Then they went away with the change in editions.

Gene Stealer cults were playable before I started in 3rd edition. I know nothing about them on the table, but many people wanted their return.

Now they are both back in this board game. I am not interested in the game rules, but I wanted to look at the models.

Deathwatch Overkill
Cassius? What happened to your face? It is fine now?
Well we get the typical angry Space Marines and they are sort of underwhelming.

Gods of Egypt!

I make good on my earlier promise to go see this!

A quick preamble.

Have you ever enjoyed any film with the work of Ray Harryhausen? Are you a fan of cheesy adventure movies? At any time have you enjoyed watching: Krull, Beastmaster, a film with the word Tron in it, a Mummy movie with Brendan Frasier, Flash Gordon, Clash of the Titans (not the horrid remake the wonderful original), hoped the Neverending Story didn’t end, thought the third Jurassic park and the third Terminator films were fun, ever watched an episode of Stargate and liked it, thought an Underworld movie was fun, sat through Dragonheart just to see the dragon effects or stopped on any Sinbad (sailor not comedian- Necessary Roughness being the exception) movie?

If you answered yes to any of these then feel free to stay. The rest of you may leave.

Looks like there are three or four people left.

I’m about to speak about the best-worst or good-bad movie, The Gods of Egypt.

Holy cow where do I even start? The plot.

I'm Bek the main character. I might look and feel like Disney's Aladdin, but I am not him. Well I really am just him.
