....they are not super awesome.
Games Workshop is throwing out a new game full of models hat have no tabletop use sans counts as.
Overkill is their new board game that gives players the Genstealer Cult and Deathwatch Kill Team that they wanted, but cannot use in there existing armies.
Way back when there were rules for Deathwatch kill teams. They were overpriced Space Marines with some special gear and abilities. A White Dwarf article made them legit. Then they went away with the change in editions.
Gene Stealer cults were playable before I started in 3rd edition. I know nothing about them on the table, but many people wanted their return.
Now they are both back in this board game. I am not interested in the game rules, but I wanted to look at the models.
Cassius? What happened to your face? It is fine now? |
Well we get the typical angry Space Marines and they are sort of underwhelming.
"Yelling! I'm yelling!" |
They all have stereotypical wargear for the chapters they represent.
Still nothing super outstanding.
How is he useful in indoor combat? Seriously? A bike mounted guy? |
They all have their own special snowflake gear, but are not really that special. I mean with minor work acceptable facsimiles could be cobbled together with bits and bobs.
Now the Genestealer Cult looks tons better by comparison.
A lot of models for $165. Still that is a hefty price tag for a board game.
"I love to sing!" |
Will this lead to a Genestealer Cult force or ally or formation or whatever they call this crap now?
Doubt it, but keep hoping people.
Good looking aliens and pretty bland marines in this set.
They came out with 40k rules for these guys already! The cult allies with tyrannids and has pretty good rules.
ReplyDeleteHad no idea that the cult was legit as allies for bugs.
ReplyDeleteGood for them then. They need friends!
