Phone home, from a trash heap!

That ugly little space  monkey has been found! It looks like he never made it home.

Artwork of a grey, vertical rectangular box. The top half reads "Atari 2600. E.T.* The Extra-Terrestrial". The bottom half displays a drawn image of a brown alien with a large head and long neck beside a young boy in a red, hooded jacket.

Well I never thought this was actually real. It always sounded like some nerd urban legend, until now.

I guess the truth really is out there...................

Clicky here if you haven't heard.

Don't fear the reaper?

Diablo 3 reaper of souls box art 0

I have made a triumphant and glorious return to the world of Sanctuary. Reaper of Souls, the first Diablo III expansion, has been played and conquered once so far.

The main campaign kicks off with Malthael the Angel o’ Death grabbing the much bally-hooed Black Soulstone. This houses Diablo (of course) and he is wanting to use it along with the Worldstone, souls, angel, demons, duct tape, gauze pads, ball bearings and the Colonel’s 11 herbs and spices to put an end to the eternal war of evil vs. good. You must fight your way through his army and stop him in the typical monster slaying faction.

Old model gets a retouch.

Long ago I grabbed a boneswarm to paint for fun. The look and pose of this model is great stuff. A pile of human bits and pieces rising up like a snake to attack is fantastic!

Priests of Mars review

Priests of Mars, is another Graham McNeil book set in the hum-drum dark bleak world of the 40K universe. I have enjoyed the majority of his stories so I grabbed this without even thinking twice.

Why Hordes/ Warmachine #3

Another reason I dig the Hordes/Warmachine? They advance the game universe. What? The fluff of the game sometimes alters the game. Wait…what? An advancing universe that actually means something? How cool is that? For me very! I like the models, the game, and they are moving the story forward. Well played Privateer Press well played. Wait won’t this advancing story ruin the game or change the way certain models play? Nope!

A better movie than the WOW dungeon.

Well it is April and Hollywood has thrown out another of their quarterly ghost/demon possession/haunting movies. This time it is Oculus and I chose to go see it? Why? Well there was a commercial where Karen Gillan (one of the two main characters) goes to eat an apple and instead eats a light bulb. That looked suitably creepy and I like me some creepy.

4-14-14 was another palindrome!

Thanx kitten!

If my previous post didn't choose my Warmachine force for me, well then this did.
Not only was 4-14-14 another April palindrome (4-1-14 see numbers are fun!) but it was also the day I was spawned.
This is the cake my special lady friend made for me. How awesome is a Cryx cake? Totally super is how much! It is red velvet to boot, another favorite of mine.

Now to finish my necrotech upgrades to become a fully fledged Cryxian cake-thrall!

My Warmachine force decisions.

Well now that I have a burgeoning Hordes force, it is time I branch out to the punchy robot side of the Iron Kingdoms. I need to make me a Warmachine force.

The first question is which army to use?

Well there is Cygnar, but they are the “good” guys. It looks like a lot of shooting units and that is interesting. The only warcaster that appeals to me is Haley. I The rest do nothing for me, visually. The warjack aesthetic is descent. Especially the Cyclone. A gatling gun is great, but two is even better! The Ironclad looks fun with his punchy fist and smashy hammer. The units are sort of meh!  for me though. They seem to have a lot of lightning units, attacks and abilities. Lightning is ok, but not really my bag. This faction is also really blue.

I have to pass because they are the “good” guys and I just cannot support that.  I also don’t want to paint that much quasi-Ultramarine blue.

Why Hordes and Warmachine #2

Another reason I dig the Hordes/Warmachine games, is freedom of choice. There is only one model that you must bring to the tabletop, a warcaster or warlock. After that there is only a point limit that must be agreed and met. Say you want to run all monsters and robots. You can. If you want all troopers and units, then go ahead. If all you want is single models, then go nuts. There are very few army list restrictions and so far all I have seen is force allowance (how many of a certain unit may be fielded.) You are not forced to take certain amounts of any one type of unit to build a force. The freedom to build whatever force you like is great.

Another hero lost. Rest in Ultimate peace.

First Macho man and now the Ultimate Warrior. My heroes are all leaving this plane of existence.

You are missed!

The greatest match ever! Wrestle Mania 6!

Captain America- The Winter Soldier

Well the Marvel Avenger’s universe, of film, has their newest addition with Captain America: The Winter Soldier. This is the comic book version of a Tom Clancy novel, and it totally works!

Why Hordes and soon Warmachine?

Hordes and Warmachine: why do I care?

The main reason is the models. I have liked and even collected a few Privateer Press models. I have used them as D&D miniatures or have just painted them for fun. The models in these games are as visually appealing. If you cannot find a faction in either game that doesn’t visually stimulate then I truly feel sorry for you. I have a few warcasters for varying factions and numerous solos. I even have a Cryx battle box almost complete so I can try them against the forces of Hordes.

Speaking of factions, there are many in both games and they go from your usual undead, uppity elves, pirates, surly dwarves, religious zealots and then to the strange pig men, cold war-esque Russians, lightning channeling warriors, fierce shape changing cannibals, blue sentient trolls and voodoo crocodiles. The amount of playable factions in both Hordes and Warmachine is impressive; and if there isn’t a group that appeals to you, well then once again, I feel sorry for you.
