Inquisitor Valeria is an Inquisitor of the Ordo Xenos. She has spent time and worked with many of the xenos races. Now this isn’t awful and it is sort of frowned upon by some. It is her beliefs that get her branded a radical. She believes in winning by any means necessary. Yup that means she will even use the weapons of the “enemy” if it gets the job done. Valeria also thinks there are no lines that cannot be crossed and anything is permitted in the defense of the Imperium. This is seen as a big NO NO by many in the Inquisition. It even gets her a beef with another Inquisitor when a cool anti-warp device is found. She wants to use it, and he wants to destroy the planet where it is located. Long story short....planet gets the old Exterminatus and Val is miffed. She swears revenge on him and so on and so forth.
Yeah this is an Inquisitor Game model, but it is the only female Inquisitor that I think Val should/might resemble. |
Well what does this radical Xenos Inquisitor have and what can she do? Well like Coteaz she is a pretty standard 40K human. She has; WS 4, BS 4, strength, toughness and wounds of 3, initiative 4, 3(5) attacks, leadership 10 and a 3+/4++ save. She is wears power armor and has; a las pistol, frag, krak and psyk-out grenades, Graviton Beamer, Dagger of Midnight, Force Shield, Hyperstone Maze and Runes of Destiny. BY THE GOD EMPEROR!! Where does she keep all this crap? She does cost 40 points more than Coteaz, or the same as Egypt’s telephone directory assistance.
Graviton Beamer- is a 12”, S 10, AP1 pistol. Pretty awesome, until you see the next bit, it is only one shot. Something this cool and it gets only one shot per game. BOO!
Dagger of Midnight- is a Dark Eldar Djinn Blade. That means it a power weapon that you roll for separately. You roll two dice and if it is doubles, the dagger’s two hits have to go against Valeria instead.
Force Shield- is an Eldar item and gives her a 4++ save.
Hyperstone Maze- is a shiny bauble that can also be used only once a game. When used it replaces your close combat attacks. It can be used against a character or a monstrous creature in base contact. It forces your target to roll less than or equal to their remaining wounds on a D6. If they pass they are safe. If they fail they are removed from the game with no saves allowed of any kind. A kitschy little item that has potential, if she lives long enough to use it.
Runes of Destiny- forces your opponent to re-roll successful saves vs her shooting and close combat. This is pretty awesome!
Well Valeria isn't terrible, but she isn't great either. Her Graviton Beamer is really nice, but a one shot per game weapon is meh. Sure if she hits her target it will most likely die or explode, but even that is never a sure thing. The Dagger is just poo as are her regular attacks. I dislike strength 3 unless it is masses and masses of strength 3. Then there is the pesky problem of possibly hitting yourself with the Dagger. The Hyperstone Maze is a nice one off that might save her from getting squished by something or someone. However, she still has to either go first or survive a round of combat with her 4++ and then activate the Maze. Even then it can still fail with a descent die roll. A fun gimmicky item and a last line-o defense kind of thing. The Runes are great to have as boning someone on a passed save (of any kind) is pure gold!
When compared to the other Inquisitors she just fails since she doesn't bring the stats of Karamazov or the unlocking potential of Coteaz. If I were going to use an Inquisitor why would it be her? Then there is the lack of model support, which always saddens me. I guess some Wych models and Imperial bits could but used to make an acceptable Valeria model if someone really wanted to use her.
