The existence of these planets is rarely made obvious but there are many of them throughout the Imperium. Travel to these worlds is forbidden except for the most well-informed and heavily armed expeditions, and even then only with a very good reason. ......or my little place to rant, post, pic and what have you about gaming, painting, models, general nerdery and such.
True story: My mother volunteered for some wildlife conservation group, and one day bought home a litter of racoon kits whose mother had been shot by some jerk with a bow and arrow. We raised them for many months, until they were old enough to go to a preserve upstate. Holy crap they were awesome. When my mom would go out I'd release them from their cage, and just laugh as they got into everything with their lil' hands. I would give 'em snackies, and LOL as they washed everything in their water bowl. So much fun. And then came the day when they figured out how to get out of their cage, and they trashed the kitchen in the middle of the night. I LOL'ed at that, too, even as my parents were cursing. Pancake mix everywhere. I used to love the way they'd look up at the ceiling, and explore with their hands. So very cute.
I know that once they get to maturity they're not good pets- they are wild animals after all, but man, I had big fun raising those guys. Lil' partners in crime that they were. :)
