Another Hordes game

Having yet to learn his lesson Madrak continues to encroach with his smelly troll beasts. He continues to wander the forest in search of fortune and glory, or was it pie?
We proxy some new guys, Heroscape models will be a Pyre Troll and a Gorax.

Druid 1
Warpwolf activates and buffs for +2 ARM. He walks forward. The Argus both are forced to run. The Gorax also runs ahead. Kaya throws stealth on the Warpwolf and both Argus. She then riles the Argus and Gorax for extra fury.

Trollblood 1
All the trolls’ warbeasts run forward. Madrak casts Surefoot on the Axer for an irritating DEF buff.

Druid 2
Upkeep all the stealth. Reposition both the Argus. Warp the wolf for +2 ARM and advance him. Kaya riles the Gorax and Argus again.

Trollblood 2
Surefoot is kept up on the Axer. A threshold check is needed on the Impaler and he passes. The trolls methodically advance. Madrak throws a Surefoot on the Pyre troll. This gives everyone but Madrak a +2 DEF bonus. Madrak riles all his buddies for more fury.

Druid 3
Still keeping stealth up on everyone. The Warpwolf buffs for +2 STR. He then charges the Impaler. However, he is out of my control range. DAMN! I cannot force or boost him. Anyway his charge attack hits and the claw wipes out the Impaler’s mind and ½ his body. The second claw misses. His bite hits and does 1 point of damage. Lets all begin the min damage dance!

Kaya steps up and teleports the big wolf next to the Gorax. Hopefully this will keep him from any retaliation next turn. She is out of fury, so she riles the beasts again.

Trollblood 3
The Surefoot are still going on both trolls. The Impaler is forced to regen and gains 1 point back, this reactivates his mind aspect. He then moves forward and chucks a spear at the Warpwolf. He is just under 5” so the stealth is useless. He misses. He is forced to attack again and hits. The wolf takes 7 damage to his body spiral.

The Axer uses his Rush animus and charges the Gorax. DAMN! I forgot that gives him Pathfinder. The Axer ignores the rough terrain/ trees the Gorax is behind. The Axer’s hit ruins ½ of the Gorax’s body.

The second Impaler and Pyre troll advance.

Druid 4
Kaya keeps the stealth on the Argus and lets the Warpwolf stealth fall. The Warpwolf buffs for 2+ strength. He then is forced to regen and gains 1 point back in his body. He then charges the Impaler. The charge attack hits and the boosted damage is huge! The Impaler’s remaining aspects are all wiped out and there are still damage points to spare. The Warpwolf tore a hole through the chest of the troll and removed his still beating heart. He might have even shown it to him.

The Gorax activates and stars punching the troll in front of him. A fist hits for 2 damage (I continue the min damage dance!). The second fist hits with no damage. These two hits were boosted for damage too which makes it worse.  A third attack is forced and connects. It actually does barley enough to cripple ½ the Axer’s mind.  A poor combat round for the Gorax.

Kaya chooses to cast the Primal animus of the Gorax on a nearby Argus. This gives him a buff of +2 to STR and MAT. The downside is that he will auto frenzy the next turn. The Argus goes after the nearby Impaler. The Argus hits and the damage wipes out ½ of the Impaler’s body and spirit. The second bite hits and with boosted damage ruins the remaining half of the body and spirit. The spear toting troll is in bad shape.

Trollblood  4
The Axer’s Surefoot is still going. He then has to make a threshold check and fails. He frenzies and hits the Gorax in the face. The damage ruins the  mind spiral of the primitive monkey dog monster thing.

Madrak casts Carnage to give everyone near him +2 to hit. He throws Rathrok at the Warpwolf, but the mighty ax misses the mark.

The Pyre troll charges the Warpwolf and misses his charge attack. He boosts to hit with the second attack and with a damage boost, he destroys the spirit aspect of the big bad wolf.

The lone Impaler has no body or spirit. He cannot be forced to regen or anything else. He still swings at the Argus and does connect for 1 point of damage.

Druid 5
Kaya decides to upkeep stealth on the unengaged Argus.
The Argus that is in melee with the Impaler does his Primal animus auto frenzy thing. He attacks and hits. The auto boosted damage kills the pointy stick swinging troll.

Kaya spends 4 fury to heal the Warpwolf. She also stealths the big guy for a bit of thrown ax safety.
The Warpwolf is forced to regen and gains 1 point, which is a common theme with our regen rolls. He then attacks the fire troll. His bites does some damage to the body. The first claw hits and boosts the damage to ruin the mind spiral completely. The second claw hits and with boosted damage ruins the spirit aspect. I force a fourth attack and hit with enough damage to kill the fiery troll.  I hate this thing and his ability to cause continuous fire damage to my guys. DIE BURNY TROLL DIE!!

Advance the frenzy free Argus forward.

The Gorax activates and starts punching the Axer.  One of two punches connects and does some puny damage to the troll’s body. The Gorax is forced to punch two more times and boosts the damage both times. The Axer loses his body and spirit aspects.

Trollblood 5
Madrak keeps Surefoot going. He casts Carnage to get the bonus to hit. He then stabs himself to gain more fury. He uses that to heal the Axer a few points.

It is looking bleak and Madrak is no bitch. He charges the nearby Argus. With a single hit he cleans out the mind and ½ of the spirit spirals of the Argus. Madrak burns a fury to swing again. This hit leaves only one single point left on the life spiral of the Argus. Since Madrak is out of fury the double head puppy survives. Damn when Madrak hits it is pretty damn hard!

The Axer swings at the Gorax and cleans out his mind and spirit. He is forced to swing his great axe again. This hits and is boosted for extra damage. The Gorax’s head flies free from his body. The beast falls silently to the ground. The troll then is forced to regenerate and heals a  mighty one point of damage.

Druid 6
The Warpwolf has to make a threshold check and passes. The Argus that Madrak was beating down attacks. The first head misses, but the second hits, for a mighty 3 points of damage. I skip forcing for extra attacks. I don’t think I’ll need them. The second Argus activates and attacks. He cannot charge thanks to Madrak’s amulet of “Oh no you didn’t!” Two attacks are boosted to hit and both miss. Damn!

The Warpwolf walks behind the troll warlock and attacks. The wolf bites and I wait for Madrak to use his scroll of “ Wait you did what?” and negate the damage. It doesn’t happen and I put ten points of damage on the warlock. He falls to the ground taking the last of his eighteen points of damage. A toughness test is taken.

Madrak stays down this time.

The remaining Axer sees his leader fall. He drops his giant axe and flees off into the wilderness.
Druids claim the day!

Things to know and ways to grow.
Remember rate of fire. This doesn’t bug me, but others…………
Rush gives +2” movement and Pathfinder, which I need to remember.
Gorax, he gets free bonuses when he is hurt. Oops missed that.
We botched the Pyre Troll’s continuous fire defense ability.

  1. Hi!
    Nice batrep.
    Just for your information :
Sounds like, turn 2, you had 2 instances of the sure foot upkeep spell in play. That's prohibited :

It will really change the game play for us.
Still learning ,not playing regularly and not having a huge grasp of the rulebook is an issue. Thanx for the heads up.
