More scary bad films and their ruling actor

I cannot pass over the worst movie star of the last century. He will take a role in anything because he loves acting, or he has a horrible addiction or way too much debt. His work is scary bad. His film choices are just as bad. I have given him one chance too many and many people have too. His name invokes scenes of dread and doom. He is Nicolas Cage and his work is terrifying!

I have sat through numerous Nick Cage movies for some idiot reason. I was either tricked into seeing them, was young and naive, was bored with nothing better to do, lost a bet, etc. I can go the rest of my life without seeing him in a movie. He is just terrible in everything he does. It is terrifying that he still gets work and scary that people choose to view it. I’ll briefly hit four films that I remember being awful.

Con Air is up first. This film is a stinker no matter what. No amount of John Cusac and John Malkovic can save it. Then you add Nick Cage and the film just spirals downward. The accent he uses makes him sound like he has a metal problem. He is supposed to sound southern I guess. What we are treated to is disturbing slow drawl that is just awful. I think if his character would have sustained a major head injury at the start of the film, then his accent would make sense. Add that to his attempt at being a tough action star and this goes from awful to appalling. Seriously, who bought into this as a good action movie?

The original Wicker Man is a bit of a head trip and not very good. However, when it gets an unwanted reboot it is even worse than the original. yes the original Wicker Man was a mess of a story and this reboot is as well. The whole wyrd island cult missing daughter bit could have been so much better. The only reason to watch this is for the creepy ending. Hell just Youtube it if you don't know what I'm talking about, it is better than sitting through the film r the remake. Speaking of the remake,the over acting done here by Nicolas Cage is beyond words. It is some serious over dramatic awful stuff. If you haven’t seen the bee bit then you haven’t lived! When you think you have seen a horrible movie, stop and watch the Wicker Man reboot. It will make Con Air look like an award winning feature. It is terrifying that a studio put up the money to make this.

Next from Mr.Cage is Face Off. This is a double shot of fright as we also get the ham fisted plastic face acting of John Travolta. Even worse is that Cage and Travolta eventually play the role of each other, which is more disturbing than I can express in words. This movie is so scary bad that I never viewed it completely in a single sitting. I have seen the movie in increments over time, mostly as a time waster until the next feature was going to start, or background noise while painting or gaming. The acting is so disgustingly over the top that I just couldn’t handle it any more. Two terrible actors is one thing. Having them do the whole Freaky Friday bit is just too disturbing to watch. I won’t even cover the nonsensical plot and horrific action scenes either. This is just scary scary stuff and should never be watched!

Ghost Rider was a favorite comic of mine back in the day. I have fond memories of the Spirit of Vengeance, but the comics don’t hold up. Then, a Ghost Rider movie is made. I thought it might be fun to see it on the big screen. WRONG! Nicolas Cage plays Johnny Blaze/ Ghost Rider. Good bye Spirit of Vengeance. Hello Spirit of Horrible Over Acting. This film was a stinker, and any other lead actor couldn’t have saved it. However, Nicolas Cage took it for bad to nightmarish. His attempt to be tough, once again, is terrible. When he changes to Ghost Rider it is comically bad instead of painful and cool. Throw in villains that basically have Ghost Rider fighting the other elements: earth, water and wind (He is fire, but where is the heart?)and Blackheart (There it is...GO PLANET!). These fight scenes are all lame and short which is good as it helps get this awful film over faster. Hell, most of the film is just Ghosty riding and jumping his bike around town intercut with Nick Cage's awful acting and Eva Menendez’s cleavage (which is good, but not movie saving good). This film is just frightful drek and destroys the last bit of fondness that I had for the character of Ghost Rider.

I could continue with bad Nicolas Cage movies, but the list is just too long. I have sat through five of his films to the end. He is bad in all of them and all of them are pretty bad  anyway. Nicolas Cage is scary bad and so is every movie he appears. The fact he keeps getting work and has people who enjoy him is beyond disturbing, like being the middle of a human centipede disturbing. Hollywood stop giving him work! People stop seeing his movies! This will end this terrible fiasco once and for all.
