Chaos review..the known Vehicles

I’ll hit all the known Chaos vehicles in one fell swoop. There has been no real change to the Chaos heavy slot when it comes to most vehicles. They are as they were in the last codex and are 99% identical to every other Space Marine vehicle. They all have the same armor, weapons, ballistic skill and hull points as their loyalist counterparts.

Rhino
We all know this transport and its capabilities. The cost is the same as last edition and it comes armed with the standard flair. Ok, it has a combi-bolter instead of a storm bolter. The biggest change, and this goes for all vehicles, is the 6th edition rules. The humble Rhino is still the go to cheap-o transport we have grown to know and love. Well I guess we hate them now that the system has changed.

Vindicator
The premier big scary gun tank for all Marines is still around. The Chaos version is exactly the same as all Marine Vindicators. There is one item that the Vindicator can take and that is a siege shield. That can help it drive wherever it needs to go with no fear of getting stuck. Other than that it still comes armed with demolisher cannon and no other weapons.

Predator
This is the typical Marine battle tank. It comes armed with a turret autocannon only. Then you can add sponsons of heavy bolters +25 or lascannons + 40 points. You can also swap the turret for a twin-linked lascannon+ points. This is a great gun platform and can be configured for heavy or light duties. Three lascannons are nothing to sneeze at if you like 2+ armor or vehicles. Then there is my favorite option, heavy bolters and the autocannon to chuck a bunch of shots down range. Actually if I took one now, I’d add the havoc launcher and combi-bolter for even more weapons to shoot.

Landraider
The only assault vehicle for the forces of Chaos is and looks to always be the boring old Landraider. This is the tried and true twin-linked lascannon sponsons and forward firing twin-linked heavy bolter version. It can hold 10 models (or 5 bulky models) and has the assault rule. The only real item of note is the 20 point drop in cost between a standard Marine Landraider and Chaos version. WOW! A WHOLE 20 POINTS CHEAPER! This is another waste and disappointment for the Chaos Landraider. Why can the Chaos forces make lame looking walkers and a horrid looking flyer, but can’t find some new upgrade to the Landraider? G.W. can throw out the Crusader and the awfully armed Redeemer pattern for loyalists, but they can’t configure something different for Chaos? How about ecto-plasma cannon sponsons or hades autocannon sponsons as an option? Hell, give the damn thing a renamed Power of the Machine Spirit at least! Way to not shift the paradigm G.W. and make the Chaos Landraider 20 points cheaper and just as lame as always.
