Halloween week hike #3

After two days of "fantastic" weather we hit Matthiessen State Park on a chilly morning but turning into a  sunny 70 degree day.
Great weather and a great looking park to visit.

Way to carve a face into the sandstone. People are the worst.

Matthiessen is another short 3 mile trail, but there is more to it than that.
You can get down into and explore the canyons and that is where this park gets awesome!

The bottom of this bowl canyon that has a T.A.R.D.I.S. effect.

Channeling my inner goblin running running through these little tunnels/caves.

Coolest step-stone bridge to date.

The tree roots and rocks make for a very fantasy-esque little island in the middle of this creek.

Some of the bluff trails that surrounds the fun canyon exploring

A very small and compact park, but way worth the trip.
Beats the pants of the near by Starved Rock. park.
