After a break more 4th ed D&D

Tom: “What is 7+ 4?”
Mike: “Tom’s an engineer.”
The best line from out 4th ed D&D game Saturday night.

We had taken a month plus unscheduled hiatus from gaming, and it seems it was missed.
I there out some stuff to challenege and thankfully, the damage output was not too awful, because the guys just couldn’t hit these things. I discovered that armor class 30 is a bit of a stretch for the group, not unhittable, but nowhere near an easy target either.

This was also the first game I threw out any giants, and I’ll be damned if I shouldn’t have done it sooner. A couple Stone Giants were really fun to use. They have a minor damage resistance, a good single target attack, a fun crowd control swing, can throw big stuff and have a fun trigger attack (there is real no safe shifting by these guys). It is even better when they grab a sneaky ranger and hurl him into the wizard damaging and knocking both of them prone.
It was also interesting to see two guys break the level 11 Paragon tier. Now they can become specialized versions of their former selves. Plus after years of 2nd edition, it is amazing and cool to see a couple old dire hards hit level 10-11. We played for years and they were pushing level 9-10 and that is after like five years of much more regular gaming. 4th edition really likes to get the players advancing and that is fine. Since now I know I can challenge them even more! There are sooooo many cool monsters that are just waiting to be unleashed.
Finally, I have the party in a new land and out of the giant running corridor/rooms of doom. They have landed in an ancient pyramid, dispatched a long dead (de-powered ancient dragon), accumulated a nice amount of booty and now have a desert to explore. I always wanted to try a desert so hopefully it will not disappoint.
