Stuff we ran demos of at Gen Con
Disney Villainous.
This was a must play for the wife once she saw it.
2-5 people play as either; Jafar, Prince John, Captain Hook, Ursula, Maleficent, or The Queen of Hearts. You know from all the Disney animated movies. You have a goal to achieve and this is done by gaining power (tokens) and playing cards. You also must hinder your opponents plans as well. You know to keep them from winning before you. This is done by playing cards that contain heroes and de-buffs. It plays fast and has a lot of potential to make money based on the theme of the game.
More family orientated
Actually pretty fun
We nabbed it, especially since they were only selling 100 copies Thursday and Friday.
I venture back to the 40K universe to play Kill Team
The skirmish level 40K game that has been tried in previous editions, but now it has an official box and rulebook.
I was curious about this and got a chance after a decently long wait. This set comes with Mechanicus forces vs. Genestealer Cult guys. I tried the Genestealer Cult guys.
The game plays like small 40K using whatever rule set...8th...right?
Anyway it is turn based with alternate activation of models. You move, shoot and melee like usual. It is D6 based with the gold standard skill vs stat chart we all know from 40K.
Quick to play. Easy to learn. Sure I had to adjust to the new 8th rules tossed in, but if you have played any 40K ever it is basically the same game.
Good game.
All inclusive rules in rule book.
I guess all armies are usable....except demons.
Can just by rules instead of entire box set.
I would love to play this, but I am too far out of the 40K world now to get it. Lords know I have enough Necrons and Marin...I mean Astartes still around.
I imagine after a month the interweb web will build the net lists to ruin this game for anyone not wanting to play it in a tournament. You know like they have done with all versions of 40K before.
House of Danger, a Choose Your Adventure based game
At the Z-Man booth we saw this and we were pulled right in to try it.
I loved Choose Your Own Adventure books in my youth. Anyone of a certain age will remember these books. This game is a very literal translation of book to story game. A coo-op game where you just ready and choose as a party. There are little items to buff choices, add clues and just sort of enhance the story/game.
Stoopid easy to learn.
Stoopid fun if you like to read, have read these type of books, and easy to learn.
Compact and travel easy.
I think it might have been my favorite game we played.
It was a popular game and they sold a ton of it....because it is awesome!
Here Kitty Kitty!
The daughter saw this and pulled us toward it. Here Kitty Kitty is a game where you lure cats from the neighborhood ( middle of table in a pile) to your yard, house, porch (game card). The goal is to have the most cats/highest score at the end of a few rounds. There is a card mechanic to screw your friends or help you gather cats like a crazy lonely middle aged lady.
Actually fun.
Stoopid easy.
Transports simply.
Quick learn and play.
Very family oriented.
Carnevale
Another table top mini skirmish game, but using a D10 system instead of the common D6 like most of these games.
Set in Venice in the Victorian Era, because.....why not?
I was running a fish man force that had a Dagon-ish feel vs a sort of mob force run by a model that looks like the guy from Assassins Creed.
Set to have a lot of water stuff since it is set in Venice.
Alright skirmish game.
Models are ok.
Kudos for trying to be different with a D10 system, forcing lots of water hazard stuff and trying to make a new system in a world over stocked with skirmish games.
Plus they have a sharkman model that is pretty cool!
