Widow's Walk: an expansion for Betrayal at House on the Hill

We have busted open the Betrayal at House on the Hill’s expansion Widows Walk.
HEY READ MY ORIGIANL BETRAYAL REVIEW HERE... Original Betrayal at House on Hill review here!

Yes, this is an expansion to the original game. A game where there are 50 scenarios to play through. That is already a daunting task.

Widows Walk adds another 50 scenarios to the game! Yeah we will never get through the original 50 and now we have 50 more? It also adds more room tiles to the house. It also adds an entire new, and slightly smaller, area to explore. The roof.

While the roof is new, it is not nearly as expansive as the main and second floors. There are ways to move through the house faster now too. Still more places to explore means more better stuff right?

Speaking of stuff, Widows Walk also adds more Omen, Event and Item cards to the mix. So hooray! More gear to help you survive. More events to make you not survive as easily. More omens that can always influence and activate the second part of the game/ the Haunt.

Yes it is an Avalon Hill game so it has to come with tokens too! More tokens!!!!!! Too many damn tokens!

Yes, it is an Avalon Hill game so it has to come with tokens too! More tokens!!!!!! Too many damn tokens! just soooo many tokens! Player tokens! Obstacle tokens! A cat token! Multiple plant tokens!
So many tokens you'll go insane! TOKENS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have played two scenarios one involving a psychic terror in the form of a murderous Minotaur, which I of course lost as the players escaped.

The second was called the box and it was pretty awesome and frustrating. We had a magic box that reset the game and then .disappeared from our possession. We then had 30 real-time minutes to find the box and escape. If we ran out of time we lost. If we activated another haunt we had to play through that until we die, find the box or win. Winning means we reset the 30 minute clock and play again until we all die or find the box. This game (possibly) becomes a loop and that is amazing and insane. We looped once, reset the timer and played a new game. Which we won, but didn’t find the box. We reset and started again. Luckily we found the box and ended the game with like three minutes to spare. A great idea for a game, but also insanity as we played almost three games within one session.

Widow’s Walk is a must have for this game! The additional rooms, floor, items, omens and events are worth it. Even better is the fact this adds 50 more games to play. Widow’s Walk actually does what an expansion should do; it adds a lot more time (probably a multiple years for us) to the base Betrayal at House on the Hill.

If you have Betrayal and not Widow’s Walk, do yourself a solid and go grab it. It is worth every penny!
