D&D post game 9-9-17 part 2

The party may have caught the pirates in the fort  flatfooted, but that was soon to change!

The barbarian flew into a rage and charged a small group of pirates near a bunch of  cages. Since he was infused with the power of Gruumsh (he is a ½ orc )he didn’t notice the caged captives yelling for help. He was too focused on killing the group of people in front of him.

The rouge ran forward and was able to knock a pirate into a nearby bonfire. He had little time to appreciate the poor fool rolling around on fire before he was set up by the poor fool’s buddies.

The paladin summoned the power of the…moon!
Wait.
What did he do?
He channeled a moon bean that hurts people?
Ok then he did that!

The monk began dispatching the pirates along the wall. Speaking of the pirates on the wall. They turned the ballista inwards and began to fire at the people assaulting their fort. They must have been nervous because their aim was off.

The remainder of the camp surged forward to join the scrum! The quarter master unleashed pistol shots at the barbarian, but he didn’t seem to notice. The cook and bosun ran forwards near a group of fellow sea dogs. The captain kept up his inspiring words. The first mate began to yell for help from within the small cabin the captain had emerged. From the rear of the camp came a large human draped in armor made from crocodile skulls. He held a wicked looking trident in one hand and in the other, a chain leading to the collar of a giant gnarled and ugly crocodile.
Bosun Smee, the 1/2 ogre

It was this gentleman that the rouge fixated upon. He though if he could kill him with a few arrows then the croc might go crazy and start attack nearby pirates. A pair of arrows flew and did mention to strike the crocodile armored brute, but it only seemed to anger him.

The monk continued to defeat opponents along the wall. The barbarian killed, killed and killed some more. The paladin continued to harness the power of the moon to damage people. Well he also unleashed a devastating flamestrike ( from his newly acquired magical halberd )upon a small circle of pirates surrounding him that reduced them to cooked meat and bones.

The pirate numbers slowly dwindled, but not fast enough. The monk deftly leapt off the wall and ran to engage the half-ogre bosun. Who he decided to simply beat to death in a single turn of combat ( Yeah his damage rolls we disgusting and it was both equally awesome and awful to see happen). The camp chef then flew into an all too familiar rage and begun attacking the monk. The rouge danced from combat to combat dispatching engaged opponents that had no idea that there was anyone behind them. Well, until a dagger or rapier was buried into their back.
Quarter Master/ pistolier
The quarter master positioned himself to shoot the paladin a few times dropping his concentration and stopping the harassing power of moonlight. After shooting the holy knight, his personal powder monkey left from his shoulder and began attacking the paladin. Well that or it was trying to mate with his helmet? He quarter master dropped his pistols and made a bee-line for a small locked shack.

The monk, rouge, cook and several pirate fought a swirling melee. The barbarian has knee deep in dead humans and dwarven craftsmen. A few pirates broke off from the group and began to loot the nearby buildings. Captain Bortolono continued to rally his men as he approached the barbarian. The first mate rushed to assist the chef. That was when the battle changed a bit.
Captain Bortolono
A thin and finely dressed man walked out from the same building the captain came out of. He assessed the battle field. He then saw where he could cause the most damage. He took aim at the monk, rouge, chef and a few pirates near them. He then began a series of strange words and hand gestures. This was followed by a bright flash and a clap of thunder as a bolt of lightning raced from his hand. Two pirates fell. The monk dodged away, but still felt the heat and electricity. The chef took a hit to the chest, but seemed to not  be phased by the damage. The rouge dove aside, but not soon enough. The lightning bolt struck him and he fell to the ground unconscious. The paladin, still being assaulted by a monkey, rushed to help the downed dragonborn.
"Cookie" the 1/2 orc chef
The monk turned and punched a hole through the chef and then was set upon by the first mate, an incredibly agile elf. The barbarian engaged the captain and his remaining crew. More and more pirates were running from the battle now. Seeing over half their number butchered by four warriors, was a real morale breaker.

The paladin used his holy powers to heal the rouge, who leapt up and quickly assaulted the quarter master as he was entering the small shack ( a shack full of gunpowder and a few guns). The monk and first mate continued to swing at each other. The barbarian was easily handling the captain even though he was bleeding from several small wounds. The paladin continued to be assaulted by the “powder” monkey.

The mage summoned three identical images of himself and then began peppering the paladin, rouge and monk with magical missiles. The rouge turned and ran toward the wizard. The paladin finished off a few pirates and then turned his healing powers upon himself.

As the rouge raced forward he drew and unleashed several small throwing knives at the quartet of wizards. One knife struck an false image and it blinked out of existence. The other knife managed to strike the wizard.  The mage unleashed another salvo of missiles at the same three targets and piled on more damage.
The Elven First Mate, Mr. Gibbs
The Monk managed to finish off the elven first mate and then ran off toward the mage. The paladin did the same. The wizard was beginning to fear for his life, but was sure he would take at least one or two heroes with him. As the monk and rouge approached he unleashed a cone of fire. The monk was able to dive to the side, but the rouge wasn’t fast enough. The blast of fire struck him. He fell to the ground to roll out the flames, and then didn’t rise. He had succumbed to his wounds once again.

It was then that the barbarian was able to drive his dwarven great blade through the gut of Captain Bortolono. A silent scream left his lips as the sword was twisted, pulled out and driven back into his abdomen. As the captain fell, the barbarian was already on the move toward the mage.

The wizard’s mirror images continued to befuddle the party. He was able to shake off a few hits before he was surrounded. The paladin lashed out and missed but the monk was able to connect a few blows to chest of the wizard. The barbarian arrived to add his blade to the fight.

Knowing he was about finished the wizard conjured on last spell and centered on himself and those surrounding him. An explosion of sound and energy exploded around him. The party members all took some damage but they were able to shake off this one last attack ( didn’t help I rolled utter crap on 4D8 and everyone nailed their saves ). With his explosive sonic death, the battle was finished.

The party took a breath and then began policing bodies, searching buildings, releasing the caged prisoners and secured one of the two remaining ships. The second ship had filled up with terrified pirates and left during the final minutes of the battle.

The river pirate threat on the Metedras was no more.
