How to Train Your Dragon 2, Electric Bugaloo!

Big fan of How to Train Your Dragon. How could I not be? Vikings and dragons? Duh! It was a very fun animated (albeit kids) movie. Now I have forced it upon two other adults and they both found it enjoyable. Well the sequel is out and I drug my special lady friend to go see it.

Alright it is five years after the previous events and Vikings and dragons have a happy coexistence in the village of Burke. There is some growing up/teen angst with Hiccup and his father Stoic, their chief. Then throw in a long lost mother returning. Mix in a dash of dragon hunters. Then add a crazy maniacal bad Viking (with a sweet villain name Drago Bludvist! ) with an army of men and dragons. There is a bit of confrontation, differing schools of thought on animal training that is a "What if....."  type of scenario, love/loss and an the eventual conflicts that all this brings. 

Hordes battle with the boy!

The trio of argus raced toward a small war torn village. They were not friends of the settlement, but they were looking for some sport.These three argus had just been trained by the druids; and it was now up to Kaya to see if they were ready to be put under the command of her fellow warlocks. What better way than to test their mettle and ability than against an adversary.

With the boy in town for a bit it was time to get him into the Privateer Press universe. He has done the Gencon demo stuff and watched a game or two, but has never really dove into the game. I'm no genius, but I can get him to learn the basics. He chose the trolls (not like I have a lot of options) starter set and I took a force of druids. The table was set and off we went.

I thought it would be fun to try a group of three puppies. Sure it doesn't pack the punch of a Warpwolf, but who cares. I like me some two headed dog monsters!
This would be the easy  1st warlock dead loses game. I was gifted with first turn.

You ever bid on something on Ebay and then forget all about it? Well this is how I got a third Argus.

Warmachine and Hordes quick games.

I was able to play a game of Warmachine and Hordes at battle box points the other night.

This was the first time I was able to run my Warmachine stuff. Sure it wasn’t a true battle box and I had to borrow a Deathripper, but it was still low models and low points. I ran a Slayer, 3 Deathrippers and Asphyxious. I faced off against the Convergence battle box with the Swiss army knife looking warcaster, two of the three legged light warjacks and the heavy double spiked piston armed warjack. I have no idea what these guys can do, but I learned quickly.

Maleficent, or I went to see a girl movie

Alright, this is a girl movie right out of the tank. However, they really tried to get some boy interest.

I know the gist of the Sleeping Beauty story: girl,curse,faeries, spinning wheel, sleep, thorns,dragon prince kiss and there goes the tale. This movie is a crazy spin that gets to bottom of the coolest looking female (The Horned King being the coolest male villain) Disney villain's back story.
