SPOCK!

The passing of Leonard Nimoy has brought this out.
Had me balling a child.
Pulls at the heart strings today a bit too.

Weekly schlock and awe movie time!

During a recent viewing of a documentary on the slasher film genre, the was mention of the film, The Prowler. Now this has the effects chops of Tom Savini and has the direction of Joseph Zito. Now together these two did Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (or part 4 with the Feldman). That is my favorite of the series. Would this pre- Friday pairing of dudes make a fun slasher? Now my special lady friend said that we need “needed” to see this. I didn’t disagree and was thankful (as always) it was a slasher she wanted to see and not some drippy rom-com.

It did not freeze my blood at all.

We enter with footage of soldiers coming home from WWII. Then we jump to a homecoming party for said soldiers. Some dude off camera is reading a card from his dame, Rose. I’ll paraphrase the card…..

Welcome home from killin’ Nazis....and I’m dumping you.
Sorry.
Love Rose.

Jump to later that night and  Rose with some dandy are heading out to the gazebo for a bout of heavy petting. Along comes jilted army guy in and decides to impale them both with a pitchfork.

Circle warlock conundrum or doldrum

I am at a bit of a crux with my Hordes faction. I jumped into the Circle Orboros faction easily enough.
However, the more I look into furthering my forces, the more I find that I really am not a fan of the other warlocks. I have only ever used Kaya who comes with the starter set. She is great for all the monsters I like to use. Yet, there will come a time where I will want to swap her out and I can’t seem to find a replacement.
Why?
Well….. I am looking for a caster I need to buy minimal models to compliment them. Is there a warlock who can peak my interest and work with what I have plus or minus a few guys?

Walking dead feet!

I might have a small problem. I love me some Chuck Taylor All Stars, or Chucks for those outside the realms. I have now acquired yet another pair.

They can smell my brains!

Weekly schlock and awe movie time!

Jim Halsey is on a road trip to California in a rental car. Along the way through the barren southwest, he stops to help a lonely hitchhiker. Enter John Ryder (a gods awful name) a quiet and imposing guy. It seems something is up with this dude and sadly Jim finds out quickly that John Ryder is a psycho that loves some killin’. What ensues is a relentless game of cat and mouse that involves cars, cops, guns, trucks, blood, death, a wrong way to drive a stick shift and great steak fry gag.

This is a film I saw at a wildly inappropriate age for a violent chase/slasher/thriller. It is one of those films that sticks with you, but I haven’t watched it since I first saw it. It couldn’t be any worse than the drek I have suffered through lately. Will The Hitcher live up to my broken kid memories?

Weekly schlock and awe movie time!

Sushi-Girl-Last-Supper

Why Sushi Girl Ian!!!? Why not? I like heist stories. This one has Mark Hamill, Tony Todd and bare assed woman covered in tasty fish. Who in their right  mind could pass on that?

Sushi Girl

Also, I like me some crime stories with a wyrd twist: The Usual Suspects, Snatch, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, The Score, Inside Man, Suicide Kings and even Reservoir Dogs (granted I saw this way too late and all the hype killed it a bit). Sushi Girl was touted as a good character driven crime story with an ending to shock and amaze.

A guy called Fish is just getting out of prison. Hooray for him! Well that is until a big goon escorts him to an abandoned restaurant. There he is reunited with four other gentlemen. See it seems this guy, Fish, was part of a diamond heist. He was part of a crew with four other men: Max, Crow, Francis  and Duke. The heist went awry, Fish was pinched by the coppers and the diamonds were lost. The four crooks now want to know what happened to Fish and the diamonds. See he was the bagman and was the last to have the loot. It was never found and they suspect Fish stashed them away for himself. Now they have him in a secluded locale with a nice dinner of fine sushi, a naked hottie as a serving dish and all the time in the world to get the answers they want from this guy named Fish. What follows is a night of beating the snot out of this guy Fish for information. It seems Max and Crow make a wager to get Fish to talk by throwing him a beating and torture. Then throw in Duke, who does some excellent scenery chewing, to try and get information out of this poor schlub his own special way. Then we get a few flashbacks to the heist and see how it starts and eventually falls apart. This all builds to an ending that is a shocker ( well not really).

Teeny Tiny Trollbloods

These five little guys are the first of two units I got for my special lady friend. Welps! The smallest of the trollkin. They look harmless, but that is before they get underfoot on the tabletop or are eaten to heal rampaging dire trolls.

A grand day for this comic/movie guy!

Holy crap its about damn time! If you are not up to speed then......

Clicky here!

Or clicky here!

Spidey joins the MCU!!!

I have been waiting and waiting for  this to happen. Hoor-frakin'- ray! Spidey finally joins the Marvel cinematic universe! Why is that awesome?

Well have you seen a bad Marvel studio movie yet?

How awesome would it be to see his smart mouth popping off at/with the Avengers?

Will it make the build and eventual release of Civil War that much more awesome?

Are they gonna shoe-in a cameo between now and his first official movie?

If only this had happened a few years ago. It would have been stellar to have Spidey throwing down in NYC against the Chitauri!

I wonder if they will stay with Peter or change it to Miles Morales to keep with comic continuity?

7 1/2 months of no football.....

At least The Walking Dead returns tonite for the second half of the season. What the hell is going on with this show now? I am still clueless, but that is a common occurrence.

Plus after that is the premire of Better Call Saul.

I'm going into this completely blind. I have no damn idea what they are doing and why. However, I'll give it a chance because Bob Odenkirk is great! Plus it can't hurt to have some Breaking Bad punch behind it.

What to do with no football today.......easy!
Right now on the Netflix streaming is the Scott Bakula/ Sinbad classic Necessary Roughness! Is there a better football movie out there? Nope! That will help with my withdrawals.

Weekly schlock and awe movie time!

Well another day another zombie movie. We all know the saturation level of zombie stuff is at an all-time high. That won’t stop me from digging through the pile of zombie related movies to find a good one. After many many attempts, I think I found one.

The Dead (2010) Poster

The Dead.

Lieutenant Brian Murphy is flying home. His plane happens to go down in Africa. Well that sucks. Even worse is that a zombie outbreak is in full swing. Well that sucks even more. While dodging zombies Lt. Murphy meets up with Sargent Daniel Dembele who is on a trek to get to his son. They team up and start the dangerous trek through beautiful African locations that are chock full of undead cannibals.

The Dead. I’m now a fan.

Why?

Not quite the artwork and spot on as well.

Brennos the Elderhorn!

He doesn't look as good as the Exigence artwork. Not a big fan of the location of the horns. It almost looks like they are coming out the back of his neck.  Would lose the two ties that are on the end of the staff as well.Hmmm...not sure if I need him in my list or not.

I don't have a want to play gatormen, but this is a fantastic model. It would make a great centerpiece to that army. Lots and lots of good details on this!

At least G.W. tried to give 40K a fancy looking unit....

....and I still think these things are a joke.

Harlequin Troupe
"One leg up. Check."
"One leg down. Check."
"Alright folks lets call that acrobatic."

Well I remember a time in my past where I was part of a….ick…forum. There people argued all kinds of nonsense and the loudest and most posting were the people that were right.
I also remember the calling and clamoring for a certain codex of 40K warriors. The Harlequins needed a codex like they used to have. Sure that was like what 2nd edition or some noise? I walked the 40K world from 3rd to 6th  and still no dancing Eldar clown army.

Until now!

Stay classy now Seattle! Superbowl rundown.

And this is why I have a hard time getting behind Seattle. They do this......

NBC Cut Away From Doug Baldwin's Wonderfully Vulgar TD Celebration
You score and then shit out a football for your little dance!
Class act all the way!
Then add the end game scrum.
Stay classy Seattle!
Now with that out of the way....................
