A bit behind the Torchwood curve.

Netflix has paid off! After forcing myself through drek I have been rewarded with something I have been waiting to see.

Torchwood was a descent sci-fi show that spun-off from Doctor Who. The first season was a bit rough, but most first seasons are. Season two it hit a good stride. Then it all fell apart. However, it came back together for a mini-series, Children of Earth. That was a good bit of sci-fi fun, sad and disturbing. Then Torchwood went away again.

Well 40K is catching up a bit, but...........

The Dark Eldar at least have a creepy cool look for the 40K universe. It is showing in the new Wracks and Haemonculus.

The last codex Talos/Cronos was one of the cooler 40K models in years. Their new stuff is still looking good.

However....................

The incredibly crazy part is the cost. $36 for 5 plastic models? $26 for the plastic Haemonculus?
That seems coco-la-bonza!

Maybe someday I can find this guy on Ebay and get him cheaper. he would make an outstanding Necrosurgeon or Cephalyx. He just would need a head and arm swap.

The same for the Wracks. A little clipping and trimming and they would make very suitable Drudges.

The Fall or The Strain part 2

The  Fall is the second of three books in a series that started with The Strain.

The Fall starts just after the events of The Stain’s climactic finale. The tapeworm vampires are on the move through New York and pockets of major cities around the world. Ephram Goodweather and his band of people have to fight a losing battle against this crazy vampire outbreak. They only number four adults and a child so it seems like an impossibility….and it pretty much is.

Hordes Druid vs Troll #7

“So Madrak is having trouble with some druids in the area. Looks like we’ll have to step in and help. Right after I finish this next pint!”  yells Borka as he grabs another mug of brew. He raises his mug and bellows a challenge and then pours the frothy brew down his gullet.
“Send the skinners ahead to find these filthy tree worshippers! When they find them we’ll see how tough they really are!”

Well look who makes his debut, Borka the Keg Slayer! We threw together a 20 point game of squish the warlock.

Druids took the roll, but gave the first turn to the trolls. Away we went!

Sunday marked the beginning of my favorite 20 weeks of the year, the NFL football season!

After a glorious Notre Dame dismantling of Michigan Saturday night I was all a buzz for what Sunday would bring.

D&D to the 5th and 700th

Holy crap 700th post!!! What to talk about? Well how about this?

Played the new 5th edition Dungeons and Dragons and it was a damn good time!

 Starter

We ran the first part of the starter set this past weekend. We grabbed the pre-generated characters and after a few minutes we had decided. We had a human fighter with Lord Douglas of Tripsy Stumble Manor, Thoradin the nuke dropping cleric and Pann Moonwhisper the soon to be very flamboyant elven mage.

Labor Day stroll.

Labor Day had us travelling to Allerton Park for a quick hike through half of their trails.

As you travel through the woods you come upon a clearing. It appears that there is a statue of a mytical beast within it. What do you do?
Enter the clearing. turn to page 47
Walk down the other path. turn to page 15

This is not the longest place to walk/hike but what it lacks in total distance, it makes up for in really neat scenery.
The trails are easy and clear cut. This is low land hiking and that means bring bug spray. There are lots of buggies here and they will be all over you without some kind of repellent.

The main reason to come here must be the gardens and various sculptures. Sure you can hike, but the trails are not as aesthetically pleasing as everything else in this place.
