About damn time and too damn late!

Yes. I walked away from the game, but a sweet model is a sweet model and holy crap this kit looks sweet! About time a 40K big kit comes along and makes a great visual impact. Keep it up 40K and maybe you can match the crazy cool stuff that Fantasy releases.

Yes, the Wraithknight and Riptide are big kits, but they really didn’t impress. I mean the Wraithknight is just a blown up Wraith Lord kit with Wave Serpent-ish lasers. The Riptide is nice, but no better than any Gundam series model. Just my opinion, but these models didn’t really push the envelope for me.

The Knight is not only big, but brings the bulk as well. A most impressive model, it would look great as a centerpiece in any army. The first 40K big model, since the Stompa, that has impressed me in a long time. Shame, it would have fit perfectly with my Chaos Mechanicus/Iron Warriors theme guys.

40K, the end.

After 4 editions, I am done with Warhammer 40K. The loss is difficult and grieving is a process.

Starting in the middle of 3rd and now leaving after only two games of 6th in over a year, it was a good time. However, that good time is over. My buddies bailed at the end of 5th. I should have as well. I just wasn’t ready. Now I am.  Why?

Well, I have no safe haven for games. Sure I could go to a store, but I cannot. I started my 40K career in a game store and it was a good group. We played small campaigns and went to small tournaments, but it wasn’t real serious. Then “That Guy” showed up. We had a weekly league of good time shenanigans and then the list optimizer and tailor appeared and started rolling over everyone. Then, he started complaining about no competition. Well the response of  group was to adapt to stop “That Guy.” Then the random fun games became tournament level games, min-max lists, and all that mess. This is when I jumped ship. Plus my buddies were playing Lord O’ the Rings and I was introduced that world.

Ok, I'm still on the skeptic side of this film. Seeing Andy from Parks and Recreation as anyone but Andy is going to be difficult. The trailer for Guardians o' Galaxy looks fun! Is that what they are going for? The fun Marvel movie?

Another holiday treat was this set of Shifting Stones. Probably the easiest and fastest models I have painted in a long time.

Went with a green on green for the detail. See they have all sorts of green glowing power inside of them. 

The netflix commands it!

Netflix streaming grabs me again! This time I am tempted by a horror movie, the much ballyhooed Texas Chainsaw.

I am a fan of the original due to the completely psychotic nature of it. The crazy house is crazy. The family living in said house is even crazier. Then there are the horrible acts done to those pesky meddling kids. Finally, there is the ever lovable and misunderstood Leatherface. A monster man without equal.

Emperors Gift review

Well look who has picked up the Grey knight stories since Ben Counter has dropped them, Aaron Dembski-Bowen. Man, the first Ben Counter Grey Knight novel,     , was really great. Would The Emperor’s Gift, be as good? This novel follows the wacky adventures of the five man Grey Knight Castian Squad. I went in expecting demon fighting and Inquisitorial shenanigans. When I finished it was all and a tad bit more.

The story telling seems to jump around from actual events to annotations and some memoirs. It had a weird flow at times but it didn’t really hinder the tale. We are introduced to a Fenrisian Inquisitor (a female too) in a cold open that has her stopping a demon laced planetary lord. She does this by teleporting in Castian Squad to banish the man suit wearing warp spawn. The first encounter with our protagonists is short lived but still pretty damn cool.

The season continues......

 

The next half of the Walking Dead shambles back tonight. I know where the story is headed and at the same I time don't. Either way at least there will be some gore, goop and  irritating Carl.

Warmachine Tactics models

The only Kickstarter I have wanted to fund was for the Warmachine Tactics videogame. In doing so I threw in enough money for the game, which I was going to purchase anyway. 

 

By doing that I got a choice of one of these fancy in-game warcasters for the tabletop. I threw in an additional $20 to get a second. I think they all turned out descent. The Retribution model is by far the standout due to her crazy action pose. Any idea which two I chose?

Glad to see that they are going to be out to people sooner than I expected.

A blessing/curse

 

Instant streaming Netflix is a bitch goddess. She gives with one hand and takes with the other. She taunts and draws me in with numerous films and television shows to watch quickly and easily.

 

However, the quality of the shows and films is sometimes quality questionable. Yet, with it being so easy to view I accept the wonderful goddess’s gift. Then I quickly realize the extent of this gift. It has me watching stuff I passed over in the theaters or skipped on T.V. Yet, here I am staring at the screen ingesting more film and show content. A blessing and a curse the Netflix streaming is.

Looks like lamentation it is then.

I actually turned the game off at the start of the fourth quarter. I have never walked away from a televised Denver game, until last night. That was no game it was an embarrassment of phenomenal proportions.
Now I have to endure a media blackout for at least a week so I can ignore all the news about how bad Denver and Payton manning are.

Now until midway through the 2014 football season is going to blow!
