Chaos review...Elite #3

When it comes to 40K grossness, there is nothing better than Marines filled with all manner of virus, bacteria and disease. These are the followers of Nurgle, the Plague Marines. He has gifted them with incredible resilience and resistance at the cost of their health and anyone else’s nearby. These bloated disease mongers are best known as the Death Guard traitor legion. However, there are many followers and spin-offs just like with Khorne Berzerkers.

The standard issue Plague Marine has the standard Marine stats, except they have the Mark of Nurgle, Toughness 5 and Initiative 3. They come armed with a bolter, bolt pistol, plague knife, krak and blight grenades. They have an attached champion with 2 attacks and leadership 9. They are Fearless and have Feel No Pain. They start in a unit of 5 for the height in inches of a regulation basketball hoop in points and can add up to 15 more guys at a cost of 24 points each.

New Demon models.......

Well I gave these new things a look.

Taeencth chariot thing. It has all the horrors, screamers, flamer and fire effects you might expect. I'm guessing it will have random shooting effects you roll for or some lame-o rule like that. That seems the go to for 40K Chaos stuff. Probably be...."Roll on a chart before firing to see what you will be shooting after you declare a target." or something awful like that. It is not super ugly, just not for me and neither is Tzeencth.

So...Tau and Eldar are next?

It seems that the powers of the warp are the next army out of the chute.

Well the last 40K army release  rumors I had heard were that the Tau and Eldar were supposed to be the early armies for 6th in 2013. Wait it was chaos then Tau, or was it Black Templars then Eldar, or whatever. This is just another reason I put no faith in the internet rumors.

Chaos review...Elite#2

When it comes to cost effective quality close combat destruction, Khorne Bezerkers are the way to go. These evil Marines have given themselves over to the Blood God. The original World Eater’s chapter are the poster child for the Khorne Bezerkers. They were the first and most well-known of the berserker Marines. However, any Chaos Marine can become a Khorne Berzerker with the will, know how, a bit of elbow grease, lots of blood and a pile of skulls!

The basic Berzerker comes with the usual Marine stats with a minor tweak. They are WS 5. The rest of their statistics are the same as any basic Marine. They even have a single base attack. That is troublesome. The five man squad has a unit champion with the usual leadership 9 and 2 attacks. They all come armed with a bolt pistol, close combat weapon and frag/krak grenades. They have the Fearless and Furious Charge rules. They also all have the Mark of Khorne. The squad starts at over 104 and under 106 points. They can add up to 15 more bodies at the cost of 19 points per guy.

I find my lack of faith disturbing!

I have decided to keep quiet for a while now about the “new” Star Wars movies. I have been unsure as to where I stand or should stand on these possible films.

As a youth, Episode IV really did some damage to my impressionable mind. It is my favorite of the series. I know everyone else loves The Empire Strikes Back. It is a good movie, don’t get me wrong. I am just a bigger fan of New Hope. It works well and if a sequel was never made it would still be just as good.

Chaos Review...Elite #1

The first Elite unit I'll dive into are the Chosen. These are the Chaos veterans and they are very similar to their Imperial counterparts.

They have the same stats that we all know that every Marine has, so I'll just hit on the differences. They have 2 base attacks and a leadership of 9. The unit champion has the exact same stats, so why is he so special? Hell, give the guy an extra attack or leadership 10 for the love the Pete! These guys come armed with a pistol, bolter, close combat weapon, frag and krak grenades. They start in a squad of five for just 10 points shy of 100. They can add up to five more bodies to the squad at the cost of 18 points per model.

Wow really?!

As I was checking the blog-o-sphere, before I head out to get on the other side of 4th edition D&D tonite.
I noticed that I my humble little site has garnered over 100,000 views. Holy crap!
I never thought I would have ever received that many looks into my little world of general nerdery.

For all the followers, travelers, skimmers, lookee-loos and secret stalkers ( I know who you are….) thanks for stopping to look read and sometimes comment.

My 4th ed D&D character stuff

I decided on a half-elf artificer. Why? The alchemy, buffs, healing and paragon class are what drove y class choice. The half-elf part? Well he will be more human than elf and the ability to take one at-will power from any class to use as an encounter power seemed to fit where I was/am going with this character.

I give you a minor look into the half-elf artificer Kelbaugh Gildersleeve.

What I'll probably use for a figure, if he survives a few games.

After learning all he could from the local hedge wizards, tinkerers, alchemists and apothecaries, Kelbaugh Gildersleeve decided he would need to strike out on his own to find the answers he required. He had become obsessed with mixing the alchemical and mechanical arts as a youth. Watching the local dwarven and gnome clockwork artisans create unimaginable constructs drove him to begin work on his own as a youth. Sadly, that didn’t go as planned and after some horrible experiences with the a mechanical steam powered egg harvester and the family chickens. Kelbaugh found it much easier to manipulate compounds, dyes, minerals and minor magical components. He quickly became adept at creating minor elixirs and potions for common ailments.

The Battle for Calth and action movie novel

Well continuing on with the Horus Heresay books, I find my self finishing "Know No Fear." This is a planet wide battle that takes place between the Word Bearers and the Ultramarines.

There is not a lot of substance here, it is mostly action action action! Sure there is a little bit of stage setting prior to said action, but not much. It is very 80's action meets war movie, just like most of the 40K novels. I guess that is why I enjoyed it. That and I really like the Horus Heresay backstory and battles.

Post Superbowl....

Well another Superbowl in the books and damn it was a good game. What started out a potential blow-out turned into a damn fine game!

The stadium lights went out and people will not shut up about that! It happened, get over it and talk about the game! The only thing that came of this will be the lack of a New Orleans Superbowl for a few more years. get your shit together Louisiana! Well that and NFL in game black out statistics.

The first half was Raven dominance and the second half was a great 49er  adjustment to close the gap. We had some descent hits, a small donnybrook, not too many penalties, a fake field goal, few turnovers, and very well timed and smart intentional safety.

The best day of the year!

Today is the culmination of 19 weeks of awesome! It is Super Bowl Sunday bitches!
My favorite day of the year. It is my X-mas, Thanksgiving and New Years all in one. If I could only add fireworks and costumes it would be the ultimate and only holiday needed each year!

Sadly my beloved Denver broncos bowed out too soon, well actually if they had won the devilishly handsome Tom Brady and his Patriots would have probably defeated them. Peyton has a problem beating the Patriots for some reason. Anyway.....no lamenting, as I don't dislike or flat-out hate the Ravens. I'll hope they win as I am no real lover of the 49er franchise.
