Why Hordes/ Warmachine #3

Another reason I dig the Hordes/Warmachine? They advance the game universe. What? The fluff of the game sometimes alters the game. Wait…what? An advancing universe that actually means something? How cool is that? For me very! I like the models, the game, and they are moving the story forward. Well played Privateer Press well played. Wait won’t this advancing story ruin the game or change the way certain models play? Nope!

The writers/developers tell a story and it alters some of the pro- and antagonists in the game. Now not every model changes as the story does, but more than a few do. That is right, there are varying versions of some warlocks and warcasters in the game due to the background advancement. They are all playable at any time too. Hell, even if they decide to kill someone off (which I doubt they’ll do) you could still play the game with some version of him/her. Different leaders from different times and story arcs is great. It gives the options for cool themes and even….deep breath…truly narrative campaigns.

SO how do the story changes affect the models? Well it gives them differing stats, abilities and spells. This could be due to a conflict they have won or lost. Maybe they achieved some locus of power. Maybe political gain has caused a change. Hell, maybe they just snapped and went nutz-o bonkers. Whatever the reason, they advance the world and it can actually affect game play.

Just another reason I am really enjoying this game.
